 American Midol: A Big Ol' Lancer Shout Out to Shane NickersonJul 11 2005 by Lani Voivod
Shane Nickerson doesn't know I'm writing this.He will soon enough – but for now, he's clueless. (About me. Not about life in general.) I'm writing about Shane for no other reason than we shared high school hallways (Londonderry High School, NH's finest. He's '89, to my '90. Gooooo Lancers!) before he was "famous" – or at least before he was libelously outed by the evil ratfink celeb rag that is the National Enquirer. Seems a shrub-squatter snapped away as Shane (a Producer/Actor/Writer) bid farewell to his MTV Trippin' colleague, America's favorite fallen good girl, Cameron Diaz. (FYI – old news.) The headline, "Cameron Caught Cheating," inspired a multi-million dollar lawsuit by Cam and Shane, and to quote the almighty Magic Eight-Ball, "Outlook Good." To my own surprise, the rag's drivel inspired ME to say two things to Mr. Nickerson:
Congrats, too, on living a life that stands up against these hack (and undoubtedly slack-jawed) "journalists." May the kick from the lawsuit fund your wildest creative imaginings. The THANKS is for Nickerblog. You see, I never really got the whole blogging thing until I starting "lurking" around yours. It's a great blog, and you represent, dawg. I especially like your re-creation of our junior high school dances. Spot on, my friend. And having lived in LA from 1997-2003, I'll say your "Aging Hipsters" is right on the money, too. More than that, though, you've given me full access to your life, musings, pastimes, frustrations and simple pleasures, and it's been a hoot. You've led me with links and tickled me pink with the profound inanity of Vlogs. (Dude – I agree, Michael is NOT his music!) So thank you – you've shown me the Way of the Blog, and it is good. You're a blessing to blog newbies everywhere. (But you know that, don't you?) Oh, and tell Cameron she's lucky to be hob-knobbing with a Lancer, cuz LANCERS ROCK! Enjoyed this American Midol column?
