Biography

Kate hails from New Jersey, land of plain speakers, but ended up many years ago (long story redacted) in Minnesota, land of thin-lipped Lutherans. She has never overcome the culture shock of being a Jersey Girl in the Midwest, yet has stayed on because she feels she owes something to the state that provided her an excellent higher education at the University of Minnesota. Or, because she walked into a tree and now can't remember the way back. Experts differ.

Kate's humor writing began with essays written to herself, primarily because she didn't show them to anyone. Her audience quickly expanded, however, to include her boyfriend, Steve, and her oldest friend, Bill, who has always told her exactly what she wants to hear, in a completely honest and unbiased sort of way.

Inspired by Bill's totally impartial yet florid praise, Kate talked her boyfriend into designing a classy website to showcase her work. Now you, too, can read Kate's essays along with Steve and Bill at www.wearyourcape.com. Some of these pieces have made their way into Happy Woman Magazine and Cynic Magazine.
