A Dysfunctional Family of Five Reviews...The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou!
Here's the first Wes Anderson movie where Owen Wilson doesn't have a writer's credit. Now we find out whether Anderson's been coasting on the strength of Wilson's loopiness - sort of, since Wilson's acting in this one, at least.
 Dad: HA! That Owen Wilson. Even though he's got a nose like Gonzo from The Muppet Show, he's still the funniest thing to come along since the bobblehead Chihuahua was invented.
 Mom: HA! That Bill Murray. Even though he's such an asshat in real life, I can't help but smile at his pitiful clown-faced tomfoolery.
 Sis: HA! That Bud Cort. Even though he was awesome in Harold and Maude, that was like so long ago, I might as well be dead, or something.
 Bro: HA! That Jeff Goldblum. Even though he's a freaky giant dude, he's been in two awesome dinosaur movies and played the grossest fly ever. Rock on, freaky giant dude!
 Baby: The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic are practically the same movie, with a bunch of "What ifs?" thrown in - i.e., what if Royal Tenenbaum was Jacques Cousteau? Just my opinion. Don't like it? No big deal. I'm already a pariah in my Tuesday playgroup for hating Barney, and nothing's worse that that fate.
 Verdict: Wes Anderson cult members: big screen. The rest of you: rental, assuming your first choice wasn't on the shelf.
