Gov't Homes and Gardens Agency Offers Newsletter PreviewFeb 24 2005 by Tara Zucker
Welcome to the Department of Homeland Homes and Gardens newsletter, where you'll get the 411 on the latest home and garden news. In this issue, we preview the midseason TV lineup coming your way. There are some favorites, slightly retooled, and some great newcomers. Mission Organizization He's talking to you! Each week Taxi Driver's Travis Bickle meets with an overwhelmed homeowner and helps them get organizized. This is a gritty, nightmarish show, and the sociopathic antihero host may not be to everyone's liking. Senseless Chic HGTV teams with Fox and unleashes Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie on the world of blue collar home décor. Watch them bring style on a budget to a different mobile home each week, using nothing but last season's Gucci and Prada couture, as they sew, staple and glue gun their way to design perfection. As Paris says, "That's haute!" Debbie Travis' Extreme Face Lift This revamped version of Travis' show takes home makeovers to the next level. The show was inspired by an actual incident on ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition, where a sink and toilet were mistakenly delivered to the Extreme Makeover cosmetic surgery show. Explains HGTV founder Ken Lowe, "I got to thinking – what if someone actually had a toilet surgically attached to their body? Or a faucet installed in their nose?" Admits Lowe, "We definitely push the boundaries, but I think the public is ready for something new. I mean, how many living rooms can you paint sage green before your viewers get a little restless?" MTV'S Cryptz Welcome to the final frontier in decorating. In the spirit of the wildly popular Cribs, MTV personality and hip hop star Redman takes viewers on an all-access tour of the lavish mausoleums designed by today's biggest stars. From P. Diddy's dope 35-room mauz complete with indoor pool and motor court, to Madonna's serene 30,000 sq ft. temple at Forest Lawn, viewers get an eyeful of the rooms where celebrities will attend the ultimate after party.
