Can Heartbroken Eagle Terrell Owens Ever Carry On?

Vote now!

Do YOU think Terrell Owens and Nicollette Sheridan are made for each other?
Oh yeah, "Jungle Fever," baby!
Eeew, icky icky gross gross
What is this "TV" of which you speak?
Crestfallen and crushed, Philadelphia Eagles receiver Terrell Owens sobbed uncontrollably when he learned that Desperate Housewives actress Nicollette Sheridan is now engaged to a Swedish actor - not him.

"I'm just sick with heartache and grief," said Owens, who appeared with Sheridan in a steamy introduction to Monday Night Football that set tongues wagging across America.

"I thought we had a good thing going," Owens said. "I know it was just a TV spot to most people, but it meant everything to me. I was ready to toss aside my career and my ego - OK, not my ego - for that woman, and now look what happens.

"She could have at least told me in person, instead of me having to read about it on the Internet. We looked so good together. It felt so good to be together. We could have had a future together. How could she do this to me?"

Owens, Sheridan and ABC came under sharp criticism for the intro, which included Sheridan appearing to be naked and Owens agreeing to forget about the start of the game so he could be with her.

"That wasn't just acting," said Owens, known for his outrageous stunts on the football field. "It represented my true feelings toward one of the great actresses of our time. Well, maybe not our time, but sometime. You get the point. I was hot for her."

Owens said Sheridan's engagement is the biggest disappointment of his season, even more so than the injury that has kept him out several weeks, and possibly the rest of the playoffs.

"My injury will eventually heal, but I'm not sure my heart will," Owens said.

Sheridan, asked about Owens' comments, said: "Who? Was he on Desperate Housewives? Oh, the football guy. He was really sweet, a good-hearted human being. Nice muscles, nice butt.

"But I never thought of him as any more than a number, whatever his number was," Sheridan said. "Hey, I'm an actress. We were acting. Or at least I was. He needs to get over it.

"Grow up, Terrell."
